Smile Because It Wasn't Me?

Should we want to live?
though people die each day
should we be thankful?
though underground people lye

a son, a brother, a friend
died at the age of six
should i cry, mourn, and grieve
or smile because it wasn't me?

a father taken from his kids
just because a semi flipped
should i say i miss you daddy
or smile because it wasn't me?

people die in war each day
just because there trying to save the country
should i stand in silence for them
or smile because it wasn't me?

lives taken just because of an accident
a car crash because of a stupid mistake
a gun shot because people are angry
and no one seems to understand

should we want to live?
though people die everyday
should we be thankful?
that we are still here

    We should learn from the mistakes they made so we can live a better life. we should smile because there suffering has ended and ours continue. its a beautiful poem and speaks in many volumes. what inspired u to write it?
