The Falling Man

by samantha   Sep 22, 2007

As I fall, as you can see
I enter a dark reverie, as all time stops
I blink, I think, who needs a pop?

I know what waits, as the fates here have strangely decreed
Below me, lapping and slapping, waiting in wet, quiet glee
Oh so peaceful seemed he, up above, when I stood on the cliff
This lapping and slapping dog called sea

But as I already know, what waits below, I can only look above
Clear blue, oh I can smell the dew, of a morning so far gone
And as I blink and as I think, my face lights in a smile

For as I plummet from that high summit, down to the
Dog, who seems to be roaring, I know I will soon be soaring
Into its white foamy jaws, the vendors and senders
And sweet people tenders continue about their jobs
And so in the face of this strife, I will gladly enter the light
As my life is taken so greedily by the rocks below

I will smile, for I know, I am but one death
Amid plenty, of millions of twenties of those such as I
That do not wish to fly and will not suffer such a hit
As ran my life amiss, just a small, tiny tap

And that as they say is that, here I go, for all of you there
Who dont wish to feed the sea dog below, I say goodbye
And try, oh yes, do try, and avoid such a fate as that of I
