HUMAN TOUNGUE

HUMAN TOUNGUE

An ugly dogma tells a truth,
Twice as monstrous as its church,
Of a sign that echoes sharply
From one tongue of a thousand hurts.

Without end this signal sounds,
It travels swiftly, breaking barriers
Crushing flat our lesser noises,
Tramping toward some nameless ground.

Its malice renders censors senseless,
Fills ardent ears with dull grey ill.
What potent evil birthed such slander
That may not be revoked or killed?

As dangerous desires and faiths grow fat,
Like a lush and fertile noxious weed,
Good intent and wisdom perish
Quenched by hate and fear and greed.
