Hurt

by Maren L Johnson   Oct 5, 2007

It's about over; its ending so fast.
Not enough time to form lasting memories so I watch as they float away.
My heart throbs from the pain inflicted by a man who promised to love me forever.
His approach was cowardly; he never tried to make me understand.
Conclusion was formed upon the basis of assumption.
My screams are loud but soft.
Don't play mind games I want to say but it's too late.
He played me like a drum. The soft determined beats created an illusion of love.
Love is foreign to the mind; his mind.
I bow my head, no not in prayer. I bow my head in pain and the tears fall and create a monotonous tap on the reality.
I'm hurt and my natural instincts take over.
'I give up' are the words that escape and create a decision.
