Work In Progress...

by Sean Dohr   Oct 9, 2007

Epistemology defined, studies knowledge and thought.
One question, infinite answers, nerves exceedingly taut.
Truth remains buried, though desperately sought.
Life's meaning unknown, I live on, overwrought.

Each breath imprisons, capacities restrict and contrast;
dependence on God and machinery goes unsurpassed.
Thinking's unoriginal; same thoughts from the past.
Perceptions differ; the spectrum, inconceivably vast.

Can thought truly exist deprived solely of air?
I argue not, eyes inert, they emit a blank stare.
Core beliefs established, left with no fuel to spare,
oxygen imprisons; soul lacking, a bird; Solitaire.

Earthly worries dormant, mind temporarily erased;
celestial euphoria, undeserved, yet tightly embraced.
Meditating deeply, peace returns without chase,
reality creeps in, serenity is quickly replaced.

Involuntarily plagued with earthbound repetition,
insurmountable inconsistencies hinder my existence.
Internal spontaneity comes out without resistence.
External influence structures, personifying (subsistence?).

Definitive answers are found few and far between;
pinhole viewpoints confine; many truths go unseen.
Solidified facts, reflect, as the light off Selene;
perceptions become knowledge when mutually seen.

    Epistemology; what a great word! =J I think this piece is brilliantly written. The fluidity was practically flawless, and your vocab usage was wonderful. An intense and thought provoking poem. It intrigued me within the first stanza, and kept me deep inside your thoughts the entire time. Excellent job, don't know what
    more to say.
