He makes me smile
when i see him dance along the black board fence
the gorgeous black legs
that blend with the buttermilk colored skin
sometimes i think i see the future
when i stare into those eyes
and i never have to worry
about where his faith lies...it is mine
he nips at my toes
when im on the tire swing up top
way up in the air
he never eats he just stares
hoping i wont ever fall from there
hes that warm fur blanket
that i snuggle close up to when he lies out in the sun
hes my pride and joy
and my most favorite toy
and the most gentle of any stallion alive
his heart is mine and mine, his
our souls are intertwined
sometimes i wonder what it will be like
to ride upon his back one day
i lie over all the time
like laura says i can for our workout time
and still i ache to swing my leg on over
but he never does move
only back do his ears shoot
to listen attentively to my every movement
he can be saddled though through it he now sleeps
i toss the ropes in circles
around, up, over and onto his head
and he does nothing anymore
to resist his workout torture
or the baths or the braiding of his shoulder length hair
in the evenings i stil sit
talking to him
confiding my sadness hopes and dreams
and as we stare together into the sun
i think we both relize that our fun and lives and even sadness has only just begun
