Prisoner

by Olivia   Oct 11, 2007

This head says you're replaceable,
This heart yearns for more
I must realize, you are erasable,
For I was alive before

I've lived a life without you
I can be alright on my own.
Oh, how I'd love to think this
True.

I am independent
I am strong
But you, you
Are so resplendent

I am in awe of you
Yet anger burns inside
I want to be like you
Yet if questioned,
These feelings will be denied.

I hate and I love
I am in disgust and I envy

Confusion has taken over
And I lie, almost paralyzed,
Draped over your shoulder
What exactly have I become?

I am a prisoner,
Chains around my feet
Blood pulsating through
These veins

Let me out
Untie me and set me free
