I Can Always Hear You Breathe.

by Mr Rhee   Oct 11, 2007

I hear you from across the room. Your breathing.
The slow, soft hiss. In, and out. In, and out.
I used to able to feel your breath on my cheek,
or on my chest, in the night.

I've felt your body next to mine, in the dark,
but that's all it was. Just your body in the dark, next to mine. Not your soul, not your love, not anymore.

Your hair, so close to my hands on your pillow,
not to be touched. Not by me, anymore.
It was always so soft, so silky. Always a warm
blanket for my face, and my hands.

Your curves, made just for me to hold onto,
waiting for me to explore all the time.
Now, so far away. Even when they're right there,
so close to me, and my heart.

You're just right there, Baby. Right there, and still,
at a distance. So far away...from me. At least I can look at you while you sleep. At least I can dream next to you, for now. And I can always hear you breathe.
I can always...hear... you breathe.
