Life's a Balance (Villanelle)

by Laura Lamarca   Oct 13, 2007

No false attire or missed preconceptions,
Judgement acquired by fair means, at no cost;
Accept at ease, with welcome reception.

Life's a balance but for small exceptions,
Badness rarely wins, most suffered and lost;
No false attire or missed preconceptions.

People swear by conscious apperception,
Wearing a cloak that is bitten by frost;
Accept at ease, with welcome reception.

Tongue not of truth begins life's inception,
Quick to demand, all enemies accost;
No false attire or missed preconceptions.

No heeded price, merely self-deception,
Painted on heart and heavily embossed;
Accept at ease, with welcome reception.

Gestured hand of passing interception,
Allowing such cloak its chance to defrost;
No false attire or missed preconceptions,
Accept at ease, with welcome reception.
