Proverbial Good Bye

by John Phillips   Oct 14, 2007

Dedicated to Heather Ross
April 11th 2007

The time we had was so special indeed
At the end of it, I was left in dire need

I tried to be all that you wanted
My love for you, I so blatantly flaunted

You meant more to me than you could ever conceive
Itâ??s over now and I still canâ??t believe

Iâ??m bitter now for the failed love
Simply because I believed you and I fit like a glove

I never imagined there was anything we couldnâ??t overcome
But I was dead wrong. The song is over, not a cord left to strum

I lost my mind over losing you
Something I vowed that I would never do

I lived in turmoil, a living hell
I know it was hard for you as well

Music I sought to sooth my soul
but instead it tore me, there was no console

I begged and I pleaded I wrote you too
But you discarded me like an old worn out shoe

Even now after all Iâ??ve endured
My love stays strong for you, that is for sure

The end is here in more ways than one
And now from one another, we are truly gone

Think of me when you hit difficult times
And reflect on how we were one team by Gods great design

This CD I present to you as a parting gift
For you to listen to and give your soul lift

I regret deeply falling in love with you
But I had no choice, there was noting I could do

Loving you was the most incredible thing
It made my heart joyous and I want to sing

But losing you tore me apart
It dashed my soul and shattered my heart

There was nothing I could say or do
That would rekindle that love for me within you

I tried and I tried and I tried so damn hard
In the end you believed me to be a retard

There was noting more in this world I wanted to do
But to stand by you and love you through and through
