Masquerade

by Kristi   Oct 15, 2007

Vibrant, swirling colors
grotesque faces lining every wall.
Everyone's on parade.
You can fool the world
but never your heart,
dance and sing,
it's a night of celebration!
Topsy-turvy,
be whoever you want to be,
as long as it's anyone
but yourself.
Glance in the mirror
see a stranger inside,
the pain will numb that way.
Sweet night of rapture!
Loss of innocence
is all the rage tonight.
Wear your colors, wear your shades,
fool the world
and hide your pain.
Everyone's on parade,
everyone's hiding from the same.
Fool the world, but not
your heart. Welcome
to the masquerade.
