Long ago

Long ago you were the one I adored,
No one had ever done that before.
I was surprised and I didn't know what to do,
I guess I was just a boy in love with you.
You were my first girl and I won't forget,
The short but intense love that we had.

Due to circumstances we were torn apart,
That day, for the first time, I felt my breaking heart.
I was so young, how was I supposed to know
That you were gone and I had to let you go?
Long ago you were the first to kiss me,
And the first to show me how sweet love can be.

It's been light-years since I've heard your voice,
Now I know that you simply had no choice.
But you left without even saying goodbye,
I couldn't understand, I asked myself why.
I came to your place and I called but the line was dead,
It's been long ago but still it makes me sad.

Your dad got a job somewhere far away,
And you were too sad to say.
I understand now and I ain't mad,
I just wanna say thanks for giving me the love that you had.
Long ago you loved me like no one can,
That night, long ago, you turned this boy into a man.
