The Past

by Todd Geatz   May 7, 2004

Her eyelids open as a stranger touches her cheek
So beautiful, so young, but why so frail and weak?
He helps her to her feet and then repeats, the questions her first asked

Are you OK there, young lady? What is your name?

She looked at him with her bright blue eyes and her dark brown mane

She said my name is Celeste, and I will ask you the same.

Well my name is Luke, and I found you right here. I thought you were dead, thats what I had feared.

As you can see, I'm quite alright, just waking up from yesterday last light. I'm sorry for scarring you, but I had no place to go, I was shunned from my village, and had a spell cast on my shadow. So now I'm running forever, in the hopes that Ill get away, and perhaps be able to live a normal life again someday.

Well is there anything that I can do? to help you in any way? Like get you to where you are going, I promise I wont lead you astray.

No, thats OK, I know what I have to do, I must make amends with the people I once knew. The ones I called my friends and they I was there's too. But people can change and friendships can be rearranged, best friends and lovers can become estranged. And thats not the way to go, running from your own shadow, being so scarred that you have to move around on your tip toes. So take it from me, believe in what you see. Open up your hearts and everyone can be, honest again with long lost friends. Make your amends and become friends again!
