What Really Matters

by oddi tea   Nov 2, 2007

The darkness coming
Seeping within
Make the monster
Sink and swim

Friends all noticed
When things started to change
They tried to pull me up
The feelings were all strange

I was happy
For once in my life
There was no hatred
No reason for strife

The one that brought me
Up in the light
She got hit
And died with a fight

The darkness I once knew
Came knocking again
Things at once went back
To what they had once been

When it seemed
That nothing would give
The light I’d been waiting for
Now knew where to live

They brought me back
And taught me to swim
I never had to worry
About things growing dim

They were the match
And I was the candle
I knew that there was nothing
That I couldn’t handle

My light never faltered
Just grew with the time
All of the goodness
Begins to climb

Now I know
About what really matters
The goodness in life
Leaving all of the tatters

No longer am I
Subject to sorrow
Leaving no worries
About what is tomorrow

Just trust me, you see
And follow your heart
For surly your faith
Will never depart
