1933

Sacrifice by Fire
That's what they called it

As if it were
Honorable to be a
Rose
Stripped of its petals
Abandoned with nothing but the
Icy wind whipping its
Bare Back

An apathetic atmosphere
Suffocating the oppressed into a
Cage of
Submission

Innocence hidden in the
Shadows
Shamed into
Silence

Like a candle snuffed out
Never to reveal the
Disease of the Night

((for those of you who didn't catch on, this poem in about the Holocaust))
