Is this what life's made?

by Alyssa   Nov 11, 2007

As it comes down to this,
The sting of a blade,
Ending all motion,
Is this what life's made?

Closer and closer,
It's down to an inch,
Closer and closer,
Yet I do not flinch.

The feeling grows,
Though my eyes stay dry,
How can I show,
These tears I don't cry?

As it comes down to this,
The sting of a blade,
Ending all motion,
Is this what life's made?

I stop and think,
Is this the only way?
Why has it come to this?
Don't know, I can't say!

As the blade comes out,
It's like a crack in the earth,
It doesn't feel like dying,
More like rebirth

As it comes down to this,
The sting of a blade,
Ending all motion,
Is this what life's made?

The tears I can't cry,
Flow from the arm,
These droplets of red,
Surely can't harm.

As I sit all alone,
I begin to fade,
The last that I see,
Is the red of the blade.

As it comes down to this,
The sting of a blade,
Ending all motion,
This is what life's made?

Then I wake and realize,
My life was no fake
As my family show me,
I had made a mistake.

Excellent, emotive poem. This one I really felt. I identified with where you were coming from. You managed to write what I have felt too many times. A definite 5/5.
