A Dying Man

by Weeping Wolf   Nov 19, 2007

A dying man, lay in a hospital bed.
His eyes fading into the past....

"And what happens after you read that book?"
she said, her graceful neck held with
sustained and ardent pride.
His cunning smile was the answer dreaded.
"What happens after you gain that money, after
you reach that success in your life you have
been dreaming of all these long years?"
You'll have everything you thought you wanted.
And you'll be living. Just living.
But what happens when you begin to die?
What happens when you are lying in that hospital bed,
And you look around to see your room empty,
Then all but one women walks in, and with grieving grace,
Says through tears "I don't know how to live without you."

And then you realize, you feel
All that wealth you gained, drain away
And all that matters is that love.
The love you had disregarded in times of success.
What was the point? Of all that you had achieved?
If when the end came, you found there was no love,
And everything you had, became everything you lost.
What was the point? If there was no love?
