By the fire

by TheMuse   Nov 19, 2007

Sitting by the camp fire
snuggling oh so close
A blanket of stars enfold us
as the twilight breaks through
the trees

Two lovers(That's us)
Gaze into each other's eyes
Both mesmerized and bewildered
that fate has brought them
thus far

No poem
could ever capture this moment
as the two lover's (us again)
make their way to bed

You place your head
(with my permission of course)
upon my lap
and I gently played with your hair

We laughed and spoke
of days gone past
While the time
just slipped on by

Passion soon filled the air
Of course
I could it not
for it WAS afterall
you and me

My love
I professed
as did you

then we
turned for the night
With me tucked securely
under your arm
and you with a smile
protruding your face
