Quitting the Race

by Alex D   Dec 13, 2007

A hush sound resonates in my mouth so ready to scream;
Quiet, Broken, Alone, I wander in something like a bad dream,
Like a pen without ink, Im unable to release my soul,
Running with the aim of escape but only deepening the hole
Lost in this nightmare, unable to cope, unable to understand
Loss of comprehension, Fall to the floor, exhausted, unable to stand
It hits me like dirt in the face, a reason as to why Im trapped in this place
A lack of love, A loss of self, The loss of you, my inability to stick to the race
Going for gold but quitting before the start, Lagging in the race to win your heart
Emptiness over takes me as he takes the medal home, distraught that I didnt do my part
Alone I deny, Alone ask why, Alone I reside, Alone I hide, Alone I cry, Alone I die.
