Broken Glass, Falling Stars, and A Body Bag

These pictures of us meant the world to me some time ago. They're hung above my bedpost. I refuse to take them down. The hope is withering away, just like the rest of me. "One day," you promised. Before you said goodbye those words rang in my ears. The voice you once loved so much has been silenced. That night was filled with every good thing possible. The next morning made no comparison.

I can scribble my heart out onto paper, yet I still can't get your words out of my head. If there was one thing I could choose to forget, that morning would be it.

I can close my eyes and try to escape from everything. It never brings me any solace. The sirens are sounding but nothing seems to be able to wake me up. The numbness is taking over. There's no stopping it now.

The last time we spoke you promised me the world. You made it so the stars spelled out our names. The moon was shaped as a heart. There wasn't a could in sight. Remember? You promised me the world. You promised me you.

The night you left the stars dimmed out and the moon broke in half..

I can close my eyes and try to escape from everything. It never brings me any solace. The sirens are sounding but nothing seems to be able to wake me up. The numbness is taking over. There's nothing stopping it now.

Just let the soft currents of your voice, of the memories of what used to be, carry me away.

I can close my eyes and try to escape from everything, but all I see is you.
