Need.

by Brittney Jackson   Dec 17, 2007

I cant take anymore
just please get out of my sight
you know my knees are shaking
as you stare at me in spite

of everything
you are and everything I could be
we would never work,
it would all fall apart eventually.

I happen to be a little too sympathetic
and you happen to be a touch too demanding
although you would never admit it,
you and I both know you've taken advantage of me

and my sympathy
can only last for so long
like a criminal wishing to be free
never was there anything so wrong.

How about a dance for "old time's sake"?
You know this poor soul could not stand to turn you down
and once more there was a smile unaccompanied by feeling
and you were obliged by this solemn clown.

And not unlike a romance
with the tragedy of holding a lover near,
I accepted this dance
and you spoke in the shell of my ear

"Please just one more night" you said
and I couldnt stand to hurt you
"I know you'll be alright" I said,
"and you know I wont desert you."

once again I am reminded
that I happen to be a little too sympathetic
and you happen to be a touch too demanding
although you would never admit it,
you and I both know you've taken advantage of me
