Hush-a-bye (Within Her Distant World)

by Unrequited   Dec 20, 2007

She lies there, inside glass,
curtains blinding the summer sun.
Deep window panes protect
her from another world that
is no longer hers.
A dream in her wake,
and reality waves its hand
as TVs paint their world.
It is here, she sleeps-
her white pill collapses her eyes;
savior and executioner at once...
Erasers prevent her feet from touching
the ground.

This pearl will make her fly
out of burnt skin and into another,
alien to her self.
Her bed is grounded, and now
she rests upon a shelf,
hiding between the linen.
Others die,
have lost the will to fly,
but she will float on by,
as she hears their calls
of hush-a-bye...
A moth is carried by wind,
and she will glide her way back home.
