Poem #9

by Madison   Dec 21, 2007

Fleeting memories darting forth
toppled at the yawning entrance
winters cold has cast its shadow
the son no longer sits enthroned
at night in stone the once king crys
crys for all his children lost
and now a wizened solitary figure
gazes atop an iron throne
looking out into the west
perhaps god at last will speak
arise as mighty as the sea
for once at last the son will see
legacy of father come to pass
but bitter disappointment black as night
utter decimation all faith lost
in the ancient past the serpent slithers on
fear not child the serpent whispers
fear not for i am your sight
ill show you the world through enlightened eyes
ill lead you on the path at night
the young danced along path
deceived by all the cursed ones words
laughter light as summer breeze
rippling through the ageless trees
slowly slipping over the hill
lost to all but that noble age
