The Dance

by needing a miracle   Dec 27, 2007

A slow song starts to let us catch our breath.
The DJ chooses "To Make You Feel My Love" by Garth Brooks, and I smile on the inside.

You gently grab my hand and pull me to the center of the dance floor. The crowd parts and surrounds us. We're looking into each other's eyes and my heart begins to pound in my chest.

We start to move together and the watching crowd turns into a blur. It's just you and I. Our eye contact never broken.

Finally the last verse: "There ain't nothin' that I wouldn't do Go to the ends of the Earth for you Make you happy Make your dreams come true To make you feel my love."

A silent tear falls down my cheek and at the stroke of midnight you give me one passionate kiss. The crowd reappears and the room fills with a roaring applause.

I awake in my bed to find that the dance was only a dream
