Mother Natures Cry

by Shaikha MB   Dec 28, 2007

Nature she cries,
Oh... how she cries,
She wants to close her eyes.
In 24 hours she might die.

Nature she cries,
Oh... how she cries,
She tries and tries to tell us our lies,
Only, we shut our eyes.
Man has cut her and made her bleed.
Oh Mother Nature please don't die,
I promise you we will try to open our eyes.

A single child reaches out,
I take their hand in mine,
And another child reaches out,
I help the children to open their eyes
And see what I see.

They open their eyes to see the past,
They look upon the trees,
Oh beautiful, enchanting, wonderful trees;
They look upon the animals,
Oh lovely, amazing, intriguing animals;
They look upon the oceans,
Oh enormous, intoxicating, mysterious oceans;
They feel the air,
Oh clean, clear, refreshing air;

They open their eyes to the future,
They look to the trees!
What trees?
There are no trees.
They look to the animals!
What animals?
There are no animals.
They look to the oceans!
The black, dirty, polluted oceans.
They look to feel the air!
The thick, black, polluted air.

Much that we once had is now lost.
What of the future they ask?
That is up to you my children she answers.
They cry,
Oh... Mother Nature
Please don't let the environment go in to retirement.
We promise you we will not shut our eyes,
And we will tell no more lies.

The future lies in your hands
And in the hands of others;
All that I can ask:
Is that your best is done to remember me.
