Cinderella

Cinderella

I sit in the palace,
Proud on my throne.
Surrounded by admirers,
I'll never have to be alone.

Dripping in diamonds,
Dressed to impress.
A sparkly crown,
A pretty pink dress.

A glamorous hall,
Chandeliers and champagne.
Caviar from the waiter,
Until in the prince came.

So I dance with Prince Charming,
For a dazzling while.
Fireworks, laughter,
Glittering smiles.

The slam of the cellar door,
Pulls me awake.
Drags me away,
From life perfect but fake.

The happiness is gone,
I'm alone in the room.
Cold, with but,
A mop and a broom.

I set to work,
Cleaning the floors.
In my dream I was someone,
But not any more.

I sit in the darkness,
A stool for my throne.
Prince Charming's not coming,
I'm on my own.
