To Daddy

by Hannah Mhairi   Jan 1, 2008

Why'd you have to leave us,
All alone in the world,
Without my dad how can I be,
Daddy's little girl?

What will I do on fathers day?
When daffodil day arrives?
We all know that without cancer,
You'd be fixed in our lives.

But now you drift here and there,
And in and out of sight,
You're missing all day and yet,
You tuck me in at night.

I get no kisses from you on the cheek,
None of our hugs throughout the day,
But mummy says you're proud of me,
In each and every way.

I got to tell you daddy dear,
How much you mean to me,
But you were never able to confess,
You loved the rebel in me.

Do you know you're still my hero,
You're the legend of my life,
You're a part of me that will always be,
Every day and night.

When I fall down,
may you pick me up again,
When my worst storms come,
May you shelter me from their rain.

And whenever I stop believing,
May you're magic still be there,
Should I ever truly, give up on me,
May you keep me safe in your care.
