Just Another Tragic Love Story

by I Seem to be the Heartless   Jan 4, 2008

This is just another tragic tale
Of boy meets girl.
Stupidly I made him my everything -
Gave him my world.

And so, like all stories involving love,
Ours came to an end.
He didn't have the guts to do it to my face -
I had to read it in a letter he had sent.

How could this be happening?
Wasn't our fairy tale supposed to end happily?
Weren't we supposed to stay together
Right until the end of eternity?

My heart had been broken -
I picked up the shattered remains.
I wanted things to go back to how they were -
Just me and Dwayne.

I searched the streets,
Determined to right his wrongs.
I looked in every place
I thought he might have gone.

Eventually I found him -
He was with her in the back of his car.
They were wrapped up snuggly
In each other's arms.

The anger built inside me -
My saga had taken a new turn.
I lit a match and threw it in.
What a joy it was to watch the car burn.

Their screams echoed,
But there was no one to hear.
Oh, that look on their faces -
You should've seen the fear!

I stood there all night,
Watched it burn to the ground.
A couple of 'snap, crackles and pops'
Soon were the only sounds.

When I got home,
I ticked his name off on my list -
He was the fifth of my tragic love stories,
And each one had ended with a twist.
