A Dark Road

by Matt Arent   Jan 16, 2008

The sky is dark,
It is late and you need to get home.
Traveling down a road lined with dead trees,
Alone at high speeds splitting the cold air.
No cars are in sight,
No houses around.
Silence surrounds you,
Creeping in with an eerie feeling.
One thing is on your mind,
You are alone in this world.
You are never alone,
I am always with you.
My heart was torn away,
Given to you.
I hurt without it,
Pain growing daily.
All worth it,
Love is always worth the pain.
I pray for your happiness every second,
Hoping it is enough for you.
The drive may be long,
But you have me with you.
The trees may be dead and the air may be cold,
but those are nothing.
I keep you warm,
Safe inside.
To make sure you are never alone,
Like I on this excruciating night.
