Friends at the beginning
working to make something better
I'm missing you now more than ever
thats why I'm writing this letter

you made me sad
you broke my heart
we said hateful things
this is something we should have never tried to start

I told myself I didn't like you
we said bitter words
then came the news
the worst thing I ever heard

My friends were in a car accident
surely they would all survive?
but you of all people
didn't make it, wasn't alive

At first I didn't cry
it wasn't real in my head
not you, no way
God please don't let him be dead

I saw you in your casket
so many things left unsaid
you weren't supposed to go
everything was spinning in my head

you had a bright future
and everyone knew
never in a million years
would we have thought it was going to be you

God gave me the greatest gift
and that gift was you my friend
I wish it would have been different
I wish it would have never had to end
