Marsden & Victoria

by Neil Marsden   Jan 18, 2008

If truth were to tell or begin to explain,
How tonight's lasting memories had all turned to pain.
Or the mornings fresh sunlight should rise from the earth,
To foretell of my passion for all it is worth.

If each star in the heavens went out in the night,
Would that show how I suffer here well out of sight.
When the warmth of the morning unlocks the new day,
Will you know I walk with you each step of the way.

Will you sense in the silence or taste in the air,
That my love rides beside you, some place, somewhere.
When the void in your presence aligns with my own,
Will you feel that I love you, despite what you've known.

If the passage of time should extinguish the flame,
Or the absence of memory change rules in this game.
Then know here and now in the dead of the night,
That I miss you so terribly, black turns to white.

For each day that elapses, each night that unfolds,
Here I treasure last visions and cradle your souls.
Draw you close in my empty arms, cuddle you tight,
Pull you out from the shadows and into the light.

Steal you out from the footlights and onto the stage,
Close the chapter on longing and write the next page.
How I dreamed that tomorrow would replace today,
With a chance I may listen to all you may say.

But if time in it's turning should take me from view,
Know I somewhere watch over each deed that you do.
And know in your hearts that for each absent day,
That I cherish and love you in just the same way.

In my soul lies such sadness, and my heart holds such doubt,
That this story of loving would cruelly leave out.
A chance for these strong arms to hold you so tight,
A love in suspension, at least for tonight........
