In a Year

by penguinLex   Jan 22, 2008

You can promise empty words.
In a year will you still
let me cry on your shoulder
when he dissolves my heart
When I'm older will you still
hold my hand, let me squeeze yours
if the pain is too much
in the delivery room?
When my husband leaves
the house for good,
can i call your house just
to hear you say it's gonna be alright?
Theres no way to be sure
we traded spit in kindergarten
switched blood in fourth grade
and have always lent a shoulder
when each other falls,
and gets a boo-boo
but now your a distant light
i cannot reach, not matter the journey
and the length of time
can i trust you, confide in you,
and mostly can i be positive
that my secrets are safe with you
