The One

by Jerrah   Jan 23, 2008

As tears silently slide from her eyes
she begins to wonder...
what happened?
what went wrong?

She wants him back:
the one she thought she knew,
the caring and compassionate one
with his soft, sweet touch;

the one who she can sit and talk with
for hours and hours on end,
from 12:30 to 6:00 in the morning
before going to class without sleep;

the one who hates literature class
but went anyway
just so he could see her,
the girl he though was "purdy";

the one who steals late-night kisses,
gently moving her hair
to plant one on her forehead,
her shoulder, or her cheek.

She knows there's more to him
than his beautiful blue eyes,
his amazingly perfect smile,
and his gorgeous well-tones body.

He once told her
that he never wanted to hurt her,
but what he doesn't know
is that it's already too late

because now he's pushing her away
and she begins to realize
that she's in the same situation
she always finds herself in:

falling for the one
who cares more about the drugs
than he could ever care
about her.
