Feelings for a Friend

by Romancing the Darker Side   Jan 23, 2008

No, you weren't mistaken.

The glances were pleas,
And you just couldn't glance back.
Every laugh I choked on?
I suffered for you.

You weren't mistaken.

I sat through the hours,
Hoping to tell you
Of all the things that I felt,
And how badly you should know.

It might seem crazy.

But I died each time
You chose to speak to me.
Your eyes were unforgiving,
But somehow held love.

You were my friend.

But the courage I built,
It all went to waste.
The days I spent dreaming?
They might as well have been blank.

And I liked you, a lot.

But now I miss the scenes you stole.
(This heart was one of them)
And my days are incomplete,
When I see you with her.

Just friends?
I can take that.
We're better off this way.

This poem was very well-written. The flow was decent and it kept moving right along with your feelings. The individual lines in between were very effective as well. It really helped the flow of the poem. Great write! 5/5
