Henry

by Sarah Hotard   May 16, 2004

Since he got sick
she would pray
she prayed for her heart
He wouldn't slip away
oh but God has His ways
She hoped for the days
He would speak
She holds his hand
on his bed
she slightly kisses his head
and says i love you
she begins to cry
she loves him for a fact
and she says she would be alright
if only Henry you would say it back
Her daughters tend to leave
the thing they like to call reality
they have kids
and a job
but inside it's killing them
to see their father die
and inside they know she is hurting
but to cover up their own pain
they...
hold his hand
on his bed
they both kiss him on his head
they both say
I love you
and as he takes his last breath
they both begin to cry
they both love him for a fact
If only Daddy you could have said it back
