For This

by Michael Flynn   Jan 24, 2008

I have searched the world over,
I have toiled long & hard,
For This
I have sought all of near & far.

I have traveled over mountains unyielding & hilltops small, through valleys & meadows grassy & forest mysterious & tall.
I have crossed desserts dry & cruel, down rivers winding to lakes majestic where eagles sore on most high wings as if Kings sent by God himself to rule.
I have sailed oceans vast & broad to beaches so warm with sun-touched sand they cause the coldest of hearts to thaw.
I have seen the light of the fullest moon upon the shoals caress the waters calm like a mothers kiss to her child consoles.
I have seen the morning sun so bright drive away the darkest night.
The sun in all its brilliance is eclipsed by the radiance of your smile in my sight.
I have heard the leaves blowing in the autumn breeze & and imagined it the applause & cheers for a great symphony.
I have heard the spring rain so gentle & serene, I fancied hosts of angels crying & thought each drop to be there kindly tears.
All is spiritless noise to the sound of your tranquil voice in my ears.

I have witnessed many of the wondrous & beautiful miracles God has so lovingly placed in nature.
All pale to the brilliance of the gift he has place in you his loveliest of creature.

I have searched the world over.
I have toiled long & hard,
For This
I have sought all of near & far.
I have never beheld anything as beautiful as you are.

Now I must continue my journey with a new task in mind.
I will search the world over one more time.

My quest shall never end till at last you I find.
