Staring Into the Fire

Staring into the wondrous fire
feeling my heartbeat getting quicker
all the poems they would inspire
as i watch their rhythmic flicker

cozy and snug
yet fiercely wild
dangerously serious
yet playfully mild

my stomach gets butterflies
it starts feeling light
battling to look away
I won't loose this fight

but the fires they've got me
they jump and they dance
to the deep drum of my heartbeat
I'm caught in their trance

they jump and they crack
they hop and they snap
my gaze they are taking
my attention they trap

I'm staring in the fire
all the emotions that arise
I'm staring in the fire
and the fire is in your eyes

    Wow. amazing. seriously. i felt like i was looking into the fire as i read it, couldn't tear my eyes away. i know how it feels to look at someone that way and watn to tear your eyes away, but not being able to...thanks so much
