I Pledge Allegiance..

by Kelsey   Feb 3, 2008

To the flag, to Bush, to you
To a Starbucks on every corner,
And capitalism oozing from our graves

To Guantanamo Bay, poverty, democracy
Ignorance, racism, power
Hilton, Spears, and Lohan

To the Jena Six, a noose, a hood
Glassy eyes, shaking shoulders, fear
Dylan, Brock, Skynard

To death, blame and brokering
Children weep, smoke pours, collapse
Void hollow spaces consume

To the brave, protectors, stars & stripes
Camoflauged, courting the poor, greed
Wool covering eyes

To me: healthy, literate, content.

Great Job! This was very creative and unique. I actually liked it. I wouldn't change a thing; everything was perfect. Keep up the great work!

Vitriol in every line, great. Nice to read something that isn't woolly and cozy for a change.
