We see them sleeping in the alleys
Cardboard boxes are their homes...
Another night of loneliness,
as wine tips from my breath...
The bottle dangles from limp hands
Upon the cold ground it now falls...
The night is now a refuge for the soul
Dipped among the shadows that crushed so long ago...
Inside the heart of broken shame
Of a lonely lullaby...
Hark, ye, the hardened crest of fate
Into the depths of darkness plunge...
On dusty shelf in darkness rests
Porcelain skin and satin dress...
Heart's rendering has come to pass
Inside a soul of pain and strife...
Through drifts of snow upon the heart
The darkened moon will cease to glow...
As I stand at the door of our once happy home
Dipped in dark shadows and here all alone...
The darkness
now engulfs me...
They say a friend will know your need
Will stand beside you when you grieve...
