I Write Gothic Romantic Poetry. I started writing poetry in 1992. I have been writing poetry for 22 years. My motivation for writing poetry is to explore ways of expressing emotion, appreciating beauty, and invoking emotion and thought in others as it pertains to romance. I accomplish this through my own personal experience with romance, the expression and analysis of my own feelings, dreams, desires, past, sorrows, disappointments, imaginations, etc; in other words life experience. For the most part I prefer classical styles of poetry that include the use of rhyme, clichéd ideas, free verse, and metaphor. My favorite poets are Alfred Lord Tennyson, and Edgar Allen Poe. As a person who has struggled a great deal with depression in my life and romantic disappointment such experience is certainly reflected in my poetry. However, I do believe that sorrow if not too excessive and if bitter-sweet can serve to inspire mankind. A very long time ago I chose to use a pen name William Edward Night. I am confident that you will find for the style of poetry that I write there is no lack of quality or value to the human soul. My work is very personal to me as it expresses my own feelings and experiences. A poet should understand the responsibility of using his/her ability to provoke the souls of others in regards to romance. My background is thus: I was born in 1978 in Toulon, France where my parents were missionaries for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I moved back to the USA at an early age and have since spent most of my live in the United States. I spent 6 years in Pensacola Christian College studying Theology. I am a gospel preacher. I currently live in Florida. I am a believer in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for the sins of the world, was buried, and rose again the 3rd day. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
