I read an article on the internet that said: "To straighten hair naturally, place 1/3 cup of milk in a spray bottle, spritz (dry) hair thoroughly, comb through, allow to set 20 minutes. Shampoo and condition as usual. You will find hair very straight and silky. (let dry naturally)" I haven't tried this yet, but I don't quite understand. Do you shampoo and condition before you spray the milk on? hmm...

UGH, i know what you mean with the flat iron. I have CURLY CURLY hair it's like ringlets and i absolutely hate it so i straighten my hair everyday. Anyways, the flat iron does damage your hair intensly. So, I have been straightening my hair since i was 12 and now am 17. So i will let you in on a little tip. It may not work for all hair types but it sure works for me.
    Okay.
Steps 1; Brush hair threw out before showering

step 2; Condition first, then shampoo, then condition after wards.

step 3; rinse hair in COLD water...when rinsing your hair in cold water it helps rinse build up completely away and helps hair become stronger.

step 4; DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR...when you brush your hair with a brush it rips thin layers of your hair and eventually you start to get split ends which well, lets face it no one likes. Use either a comb or a pick..i perfer to use a pick it works much better.

step 5; Take a towel, soak it in HOT HOT HOT water and take your favorite conditioner put in hair all over be generous with it and squeeze excess water out of towel and wrap around your head with condition in your hair still. give it about 10 minutes, i usually give it 25 minutes because my hair is tini lil ringlets. Rinse hair with luke warm water and then switch to cold.

step 6; instead of using a flat iron try the blow dryer, BUT i found it to do less damage on my hair if i attached a nylon sock because you dont fry your hair. Hold by the nozzle the blow dryer facing towards your ends and using a COMB brush down wards. You can do it in layers or all at once. and the best part about it is your hair is shiny straight and smells great and feels strong because you did a deep mosturizing condition at the beginning...and if you have frizzies i find that the marc anothny straightening balm works great. Just remember to keep the blow dryer facing down wards towards your ends because if yah don't....WHATCH OUT...you will be attacked with frizzies.

I have been doing that too my hair for the last 2 years...Yes it may seem like a lot of work...but your hair looks and feels awsome. Plus you don't have to by anything, except well any conditioner you like. Also another tip is if your have finished straightening your hair and you feel it looks a little fried.....take some of your favorite lotion...i perfer to use nut and honey lotion and put a fair amount in your hand and apply try to get the ends because that where most of it looks fried. and VOILA...ahah
    Hope i helped

    take care
    Scooby

    P.S.
Some products that work great on helping to straightening your hair is
    Marc anothony straightening shampoo, conditioner
    John Freida deep mosturizing balm
Dove Conditioner ....I love that stuff
    Bed head born Straight balm
Frustis PSSST spray for that funky straight look
    and my absolute favorite.
    Big Sexy hair straightening lotion

i used to have spiral curly hair.....i got a regular treatment put on it to straighten it but my hair was too curly and it didn't work. so after that was all out of my hair i went and got a black person's treatment done....it worked but it was really intense. my hair keeps breaking off. it was really hard on my hair. if i was you i would keep to the flatening iron. it's better than having your hair break off at the root.

I hate my hair...I don't know if it's the weather or if its strees but, it's just gone weird and too fluffy or something. So i bought a cermaic straightner.

I know you didn't want to straighten with heat but, it's really good because since it's not good for your hair to be washed everyday anyway (a little warning to me from my hairstylist), you straighten it once and it will stay straight until you get your hair wet again. It can last for a week (including those rough sleepless nights!) ok...I sound like a freaking commercial.
