Not having a role model is different than not having an idol. And having an idol does in no way need to involve worshipping. By definition, it does.. but "idol," as a term, is used so loosely these days that it simply means someone you respect, admire, and aspire to be similar to. |

Ask this question to a group of people, you'll get a list of names. Ask this question to a group of poets, you'll get answers... like these. Too funny! |

I don't know that there is someone that I consider to be my idol (I only look up & to myself). But, I do know that there are some people I do consider to be an inspiration; who are influential to me. |

Didn't Malcolm X and MLK have two completely different views...? |

Wouldn't say Malcolm's beliefs were exactly moving towards King's. King was interested in helping humanity as a whole, while Malcolm was exclusively concerned with blacks. |

Both of their goals were toward better equality, but they had different methods of getting there, and I don't believe Malcolm's was the best method. I get that toward the end of his life he changed his views to perhaps become more like MLK's, it makes sense for someone to take a second look at what they believe after they've received death threats. I'm not saying what he stood for wasn't important or that MLK was better, all I'm saying is that I don't believe they're exactly on the same page. |

You could have said Jesus was your idol and it would have been fine, but the fact that you basically called us all sinners for saying other people were our idols is a bit insulting. It was only funny to me, however, because you're wrong anyway. In the bible it says do not WORSHIP idols. Nobody is worshipping, we're just naming people who are influences in our lives. |
