I've got a project about cheating in schools and I'd like to gather information about the topic...
If you have a funny or interesting story about that, could you please write it down with your first name only.

    Thank you

My friend Rasheeda was the master of cheating. She would actually leave her book open on the floor and pretend to drop her pencil so she could pick it up and sneak a look at the book. I'm surprised that after twenty times, the teacher still had no idea. She also stole tests and the answers right before the test started and passed it around the class. And we were both quite fond of singing out the answers to the tune of Yankee Doodle. Of course the easiest tool to cheat with is the cell phone. On exam day I had exempted all of my exams, but she hadn't, so she texted me questions and I would look up the answers for her.

I tried once or twice to cheat by taking a piece of paper about 5 inches or so square then folding it in half one way then the other again so there was 8 smaller squares for me to write the cheats on. and due to the lack of space i had to learn how to condense whole sentences and paragraphs into only a few disjointed key words that would make sense to no-one but me. but then i found i used to get too paranoid when using them in exams and what not to actually make much use of them. so i then came up with the idea of still writing them and then spending half an hour memorising them by rote. then i would read through them a few times just before the exam began. and then when the exam was handed out and we could begin the first thing i would do is find some open space on the question sheet and write them out before i could forget them. and presto. i had my cheat sheet in full view and there was nothing the teachers could say nor do about it

At first it was cheating as i had the paper with me and used it but that made me too paranoid about getting caught. so i then just memorized the cheat note. so it wasnt cheating after a while. and i didnt really use mnemoics. i would instead break down a paragraph into a few shortend keywords and symbols. i used to usually be able to get a whole 80 mark essay on one square of the note. the only real problem is that it didnt realy sink into my long term memory. if i had a look at the note 2 or 3 weeks later i would not be able to make heads or tails about what i had writ

One time I wrote some answers on my hand, but I wrote it in a code that only I would understand. My teacher asked me to step outside and he took a look at my hand and said, "Oh, I thought you were cheating... Nevermind."

Back in 6th grade, our music teacher would give us weekly quizzes about the different styles of jazz that we had Bern learning about. Some of the girls in my class had the answers written on their hand for a good month or so before the teacher found out... Haha. One of the girls raised her hand to ask a question before the quiz and got caught that way...Then we had "hand checks" before each quiz.

I'm not big on cheating, but I have, a few times, laid the sheet with all my notes on the floor and "dropped" my pencil & found the answer, or I would just look down at the floor. I've only done that twice or three times.. Never been caught yet. >:)

Last year I was in a music class and some guy I'm now friends with had a massive crush on me (not anymore) and I took advantage of his crush big time :P He sat in front of me and would move his paper to the edge of his desk & write all the answers in big hand writing so I could easily look over his shoulder and cheat. It became routine. Good thing he knew his stuff! Both got A's in the class but I did zero work.

It was a JAZZ centered music class so can you blame me for not caring? Jazz. Blech.

Now I want your opinion on cheaters. Do you think they become successful people in the future? Do you think they can succeed in the workplace? and what about ethics?

It's entirely individual. Even identical twins turn out differently ;) So probably a good 50/50. Toss up a coin and you'll have your answer!

Unfortunately in the world we live in there is no prize for fair play and ethics. it seems to me that a large percentage of people who get to the top are the ones who had no second thoughts about lying, cheating and backstabbing there way up.

I find it fustrating when someone cheats and you work hard to achieve things and such but because they cheat they get the better grade and promotions and such.. funny thing is though, I had a friend who always cheated through school, we were in the same English class and when we had tests she would constantly have her book open on her lap.. or on the floor, notes written in her pencil case... trying to copy my essays.. while she got the good grades in class.. when it came to doing our last major exams where is pretty much impossible to cheat she failed majorly.. instead of taking the time to study for the two years which the board of studies course ran for she took it easy, went out to party and cheated... She failed and didn't get into university to study nursing like she thought she would, she had already bought everything she needed ect.. I guess karma can be quite a B**ch

^ ya Rocky you're right, people are punished WHEN they are caught and only then. and like you said there isn't a prize for being ethical, so nobody really cares if you have good ethics or not... it's a matter of conscience.

Malpomeme. i guess it depends on why the person cheats. if they cheat because they are not interested in doing any work and simply cant be bothered, then yes they will most likely fail. but then i had a friend in high school(we werent great friends, just saw each other occasionally and smoked a few joints together) who came from a really poor family. but he was determined to get a scholarship to a certain exclusive university that was only given to 3 students each year. so he worked like hell but also cheated whenever he could to get the best grades. he knew what he wanted and wasnt going to let anything stand in his way, ethics be damned. and guess what he got it. i have no idea what happened to him after that as we lost touch but i am sure he is doing well. he was just the sort of ruthless bastard to go far in this world

^ also another interesting point there. But then why would you cheat if you didn't care?

Why do most people cheat in subjects that they couldnt be bothered to study for? because they want to pass and not dissapoint there parents. all they care about is simply getting a pass. they arent interested in the subject at all

Well, you can't expect someone to find every class they are taking interesting. I find spanish very boring, and it's also difficult learning a new language. Then again, I've never cheated in that class, I just pay attention in it more than other classes. I never study either, I've never really had to.
