P&Q used to have TONS...thousands and thousands of members...but now at any given time there are less than 50 people on at a time..Out of what 30-50 thousand members? I dont recall how many this site has/had. Makes me kinda sad. I've been around here for about 7 years. Granted I dont hit the boards or the site daily or evenly weekly, but you would think with that many members the ratio would be different. Hmmm...wonder what happened?

Read the many threads we've made about this exact topic, but you'll probably find a lot of blame games.

^ I agree. I actually made a comment on one not to long ago, but it's been deleted. But I'll say it again.

I don't have a schedule or regular hours to come on to P&Q. Sometimes I'll be logged on for an hour straight or sometimes just for a few minutes, every day for a week or more faithfully and other times I won't be on for months at a time (the longest I think I hadn't logged on was for a couple years). I've got this thing called a life, and I'm living it.

I've got this thing called a life, and I'm living it.

^ Oi, that really puts my panties in a twist, miss better-than-the-rest-of-us. I've got a life. I reckon we all do.

Anyway, the blame game has certainly been prevalent in "why are the P&Q discussion boards inactive" threads, but surely something or someone is to blame? Maybe not. Things do *just happen*, but I'm more of a mind that every change has its cause(s). If anything, blame-games have minutely revived the boards. Seems like the only exciting thing that happens around here is fighting. That's not how it used to be. We used to have heaps of interesting debates and I also remember laughing a lot. Lots of bickering and teasing and healthy banter.
I don't know what the solution is, but I'd definitely like to see the site revived.

I used to play in the park alot, when I was a wee one.

I don't so much now, mabye on the odd occasion I've had a few beers and my friends and I stagger past some swings or a roundabout and fancy a giggle.

I feel the same about P and Q. It was a great place for me and many others for a long time, but nothing like that ever lasts. I don't think it was any one thing that made people move on, even if this place had been perfect in every way I and others like me would have left...only to return sporadically in posts like this.

P and Q for me is a tool, a way to store my poems online easily and keep in touch with the wonderful people from my club.

When you've seen your zillionth "was Jesus real" thread, it gets old.

BUt it was great once, no doubt about it and I'm sure for those who are new, still very cool.

"Oi, that really puts my panties in a twist, miss better-than-the-rest-of-us. I've got a life. I reckon we all do."

^ Please, don't get your panties in a twist all for nothing, haha. "I've got a life. I reckon we all do." is the point I was trying to make. I in no way think that I am better than anyone else, that's quite unkind to put such things in my mouth or to say as if that were my intentions of doing so. And I really don't think the insult was necessary. You could have simply asked me to explain what I meant. I'm actually offended, although I shouldn't be; you don't know me. If you were to know me you would know that I am not as ignorant or self-absorbed as to believe that. I don't know why I'm bothering to defend myself to a stranger. I was attempting to make a reference to what I'd said in another post, much like this one, where I had said that people have these called lives and that they are busy. The OP admitted that she isn't always on as faithfully as others, I admitted I'm not on as faithfully as other times either and my reasons being is that I have a life; I'm busy; I go to university, have a job, a house to tend to, family and friends to spend time with. I planned to elaborate on that, however I had company at my door and had to finish what I started later. The point I was trying to make is that people have lives and that they are busy. I assumed others would have gotten the point I was trying to make until I could come back to continue but I guess I shouldn't have assumed that; I should have known better than to expect that. But just because I didn't come right out and say it doesn't mean that I don't acknowledge it. I don't think that's fair to assume. If you misunderstood that or are offended by that then I apologize and if you believe such of me so be it. I wish you wouldn't but I can't control what your first assumptions are, I can only explain what I meant and hope that you'll be enlightened, whether or not it matters. On the other hand, at least I was able to finish what I started.

Well that's quite a rant and you really only reinforced what I thought you meant. Now, in brief, this is my view. P&Q is part of my life. The people I know on P&Q are part of my life. I'm not embarrassed about it and I don't inadvertently insult other people by excluding P&Q from the term "life." If this isn't life... what is it?
I see your point - you're busy. But too many people around here, including mods even, make a point to impress that P&Q is immaterial, that the people they know here are robots, that emotion is completely void as to anyone else or anything else relating to P&Q.
I realize your post held no bad intentions, but the meaning was still there and whilst I'm not at all upset with YOU, I was triggered by your implication that P&Q is something "other" than life. I'm tired of seeing that mentality, especially from members and mods that are on here all the time... because P&Q obviously is a part of their lives. Nobody owns up to it, as if considering the site to have any meaning is an embarrassment. Ha!
Being busy outside the internet and having a life - I consider those 2 separate things.
Anyway, that wasn't brief like I meant it to be. I hope you realize I'm not trying to pick a fight. Just making a point is all.

I think a lot of the younger members, like people around my age, have been busy with school. I know I have. Over the summer I was on daily, most of the time for over an hour a day. I think once Holiday Break rolls around, we will be more active, and of course when summer hits, we'll be on here more often. :)

No offense to anyone here but I hate when people post threads where they rant on and on..it's like okay, I get your point. I don't even read those posts to be honest even when it's towards me. I think a couple sentences is enough to get your point across...but I get when people are trying to give advice and they have a lot of detail but anywhoo, just felt like saying that!!

I only go on this site for like 1 to like 15 minutes..maybe 3 times a week but yeah, the most I've seen people online is like over 30:/ It is kinda strange...

Try comming on in summer vacation, lots of people are on then, but still not enough compared to how many people are regestered. I think the main reason why not many people are online at once is that people on this site come from different countries with different time zones. Another reason might be that some have accounts that they don't use because they don't write poetry anymore or because they have been on here for too long and have seen the same topics repeated.

I think the problem is how politicaly correct the discussions in this site have been forced to become. they have become boring and tasteless. we all have to tip toe around each other in fear of being banned. i mean damn that. it is atleast interesting when people are bigoted and every type of ist under the sun( eg racist, sexist etc) when people are passionate and fiery, even when they are complete jerks and dead wrong. people who dont give a damn what other people think of them in the slightest. give me those type of peole any day to argue with over the conformist who tries to be like every one else. but unfortunately the voice of god thundered and now every one like that has been banned or learned to shut up in fear of being banned.

I disagree. Although it did used to be like that, things have changed, MODS have relaxed. Maybe people just can't think of new and interesting topics. The religion ones are especially getting old.

  • Captivat3d

Well, like everything else in the world everything has rules and regulations that people have to follow. I think if their weren't any mods the discussions would be chaotic and never ending.

Yes, I agree it would be interesting if we got to argue with each other to the extremes but then again, it probably wouldn't even get anywhere.

The posts do lack a lot of things but I think it's because mostly teens post on here.

  • Krista

Some of us teens try to leave "intelligent" posts though... :)

To be honest, if something really isn't that important or worth sharing, why bother posting it? If you have a problem, search the forums. There's a lot of threads that are repeated.

A lot of members now live underground so to speak, so i like many spend the majority of there time within their clubs venturing on to the boards on the odd occasion to post something non inflammatory.

I hadn't known in the first place that this site was so 'old.'

In fact, I thought it was one of those new and growing sites! I now laugh at my ignorance. :/ If anything, I do find a lack of much interesting conversation up here; though I've never been a creating topics kind of person.

If it does any good, a lot of internet sites are beginning to lose my interest.
