I have eaten much of this deliciousness, and not just over there. There are several Mediterranean restaurants in most cities of more than a few hundred thousand. Look for Greek ones as well, since they often serve the same fare.

Larry, you've reminded me of my travels to Greece and Turkey. The food was delicious. Some of my favorite foods that I can remember from visiting there were the pork/lamb slavakia wraps and pita bread pizza.

  • Britt

Ohh haha. I was gonna say that would suck if you could only have certain foods.

  • Larry Chamberlin

Liz: love the different ways lamb is prepared in the mid-east, but my favorite is lamb curry

Britt: actually she would have not beeen able to make the scotch eggs, since they are wrapped in pork sausage

A muslim friend of mine facebooked this week: "80% of hunger is water"

Hellon: my mom, from Ireland, used to make breakfast pudding, but she did not use bits of meat, just the blood. You're right, it had no consistency, but sure was delicious. I wondered by the black pudding tastes different.

I'd have to really believe in the cause to be able to fast. A moment ago, I was thinking, "Maybe I should try fasting too..." but then I thought, "I just bought groceries yesterday," and now I'm going to make myself a biiiiiiig breakfast.

You guys should stop talking about food. Probably making fasting that much harder!

Jane I was thinking the same thing. In my religion we fast when we really want to speak with God on another level, it's giving something up while asking for something through prayer. I'm dealing with something that would result in fasting right now, but I have groceries that will spoil soon. I'm like CRAP! I do the SAME THING all the time. I love food, it's so so so hard.

It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't love food. Lol. In high school I battled with an eating disorder, and mentally now I think fasting scares me more than anything, even though its not the same thing.

  • nouriguess

    Lol Britt, really?
Fasting is hard, especially it is Summer now and I go to take summer lessons as well, so it is definitely hard :)

But it is benefitting at the same time! ;)
an eating disorder? this happened to me once, maybe last year as I remember, I took Carbon pills and dunno what, ughh.

  • Britt

I had a battle with anorexia for two years in high school, after I got help, I get nervous if I don't eat much, I'm so afraid that I will fall back into that disaster. I started overeating in an attempt to prove to myself I was better, and ended up gaining a ton of weight. It's really a stupid struggle! If I miss a meal, I easily lose a pound (I fluctuate a good 5-7 lbs a day) and so it freaks me out when I drop a bunch of weight at once, I know its due to not eating the way I should be. It's hard to explain. Big ramble is over lol

See summer could be easier to fast for me, I'm much busier. In the winter I make my roast and stews and big elaborate meals to keep me warm!! Haha

  • nouriguess

    LOL
yeah but hey can you bear staying without water for more than 12 hours under the scorching sun??? and walking, losing lots of water, sweating without being able to drink?? :P

when I was little I had the same problem as you, I used to eat TOO much until someone told me how fat I am so I turned into a model! haha I began to follow diets and such and that made me lose lots of weight, and it was horrible how I used to faint everywhere lol :)

hmmm back to the topic, did you go to that link Nana has just given us? xD this ice cream is freakin' yummy, if oneday you come to Syria...go to "Castles" ..ask for a cup of it and melttttttttt :P:P
