Im finding what power function approximates for f(x) for large x

    where f(x)=0.3x^4+6x^2+5.7

I have absolutely no idea anything you just wrote. I hate when they put letters into math! Wish I could help, I'm too dumb for this stuff ;)

I am confused by the two carets / circumflexes? ^^
    f(x)=0.3x^4+6x^2+5.7
Learning algebra is a little like learning another language. In fact, algebra is a simple language, used to create mathematical models of real-world situations and to handle problems that we can't solve using just arithmetic. Rather than using words, algebra uses symbols to make statements about things. In algebra, we often use letters to represent numbers.

They say It is easy to confuse power functions with exponential functions. Both have a basic form that is given by two parameters. Both forms look very similar. In exponential functions, a fixed base is raised to a variable exponent. In power functions, however, a variable base is raised to a fixed exponent.

It is all Greek to me,that won't help you one iota.

Except that the given equation is completely missing out both the fixed, and the variable. lol
