Kayla, the sentiment is commendable, but expect nothing but resentment. Plenty of us have tried and still try, but only two or three want help, want to talk and resolve their problems.

Just a heads up.

Not cowardly, Toni, totally understandable. I usually only get hostility. Though there are a few really great kids/young adults here.

Its good you've found somethin that helps you - writing poems. Thats a start at least!

However tempting it is, you've got to try and stop this trail of thought about 'what did I do to deserve this' 'I must be being punished for something' etc etc....we all seem to do it when we don't understand why we're depressed, it seems logical to us....but you've got to keep reminding yourself that its an illness like any other and that you don't need a reason to have depression.

Maybe the fact that the depression is returning in waves, is because you havn't dealt with some things that are bothering you??? Maybe you need some extra help to get rid of it...counsellor? antidepressants? Theres no miraculous cure, but if the depression is especially bad, you might need some extra help.

I couldn't tell from your post whether your parents know/understand that you've got depression? It really sounds like your best friend cares a lot, but feels pretty helpless...hence the 'deserve someone better' etc. Maybe try researching depression on the net, theres some sites for family/friends of a depressed person, and what they can do to help. Maybe show her some of these ideas, so she knows how to help you?

If your anything like me, maybe you can't seem to find answers to your problems because there is so many emotions attached to them and you find it nearly impossible to think clearly about them?...but when it's somebody else its compeltely different, you can detach yourself and see clearly what they should do??? Just a thought.

Remember if we were all meant to fix ourselves, there'd be no need for doctors. There's no miraculous cure, but you CAN beat depression hun! Keep posting if you ever need to vent things.
