Club Battle - #2

Ok, so, please can everyone state their club name below, if they are taking part, as I will make the threads on Sunday, so they are all ready to begin on Monday morning.

I will be making an independent team thread, for anyone to post who is not a part of a club, but I need to know there are more than 1-2 members, or else it wouldn't be fair. So please let me know ASAP if we need this thread.

** This will run from a Monday - Friday.

** Each club will have their own thread, and anyone from their club can post at anytime. If the clubs are uneven then tough --- you will just have to bribe your team mates to take part.

** There will be no rules on posting.. each member can continue to post as many times as they like - however, double posts from another member at the same time, still will not be counted.

** INDEPENDANTS will have a thread of their own, which means anyone that is not in a club, can post on this thread to join at anytime.

** NEW PROMPTS
I will be giving out 8 new prompts at the beginning of each of the 5 days!! so 40 prompts in total by the end of the week!!

And finally - I will be awarding prizes for this one!

1st place - the team will decide together which 3 poems of their contest is worthy of nomination and I will nominate them.
2nd place - will send me 2 poems to nominate.
and 3rd place - 1 poem for nomination.

Winners will be the teams with the most amount of poems by the end of the 5 days.

BR, thank you for organising these great contests. But I'm a little weirded out about the prizes on offer here. How can you nominate 6 poems with only 3 nominations? And don't you mind using up all your nominations on poems you don't necessarily find worthy? Even though the judges make the final decisions, I just don't think there should be any obligation behind giving your personal approval of poetry... it sort of cheapens it somehow. Perhaps your honest comments would be a great award instead? Or just the sheer glory of kicking ass?

I dunno, I don't mean to make this an issue. Just wanted to make sure we're all the same page.

Noura - teams are not going to be equal numbers, it is just easier doing club against club regardless of who takes part within that club. The numbers never seem to be equal, people who sign up for their club sometimes can't commit, and the independent teams will always be slightly fewer members than a whole club.

So anyone can post for their own club, and anyone who does not belong to a club but wants to submit a poem, can do so on the independent thread, ie, David, Hellon, Abed, umm Darren etc, or even new members.

As for the nominations, it was only an incentive for people to take part, and also, I quite liked the idea of a club having to decide TOGETHER, on the best 2 or 3 poems from their submissions. It is a new idea, and something I thought would be fun and different.

I don't mind nominating 3 poems, as I do believe they will be worthy, as only 6 poems of the whole weeks entries will be nominated, and there was many worthy poems from the last round. I did ask another member if they would mind helping me by using 2 of their votes, who didn't mind, and I was about to ask another member if they would do 1 vote for me.

I believe there will be really great pieces produced from this round,

However... if anyone wishes to scrap this, then let me know and I will take the prize of nominations away.

Sorry - should also state that the Independant thread is also open to anyone who is in a club, but the club is not taking part, so doesn't have it's own thread. I think there are a few active members, in old or inactive clubs. So if you are reading this and want to join - you can join the Independant thread :)

Just a thought, I think the independent team should have a bit of artistic licence when it comes to double posts.

Agreed: It's very difficult to know who's going to be posting... I am writing and pull the page up to post and then it gets a bit out of sequence at times... so I hold back from writing until I think I am alone... lol

I am seriously so exhausted. I was up til midnight writing "poems" - if that's what we're calling them - woke up at 5 something to throw myself together and welcome my beautiful niece into the world, spent all day there, and am back writing.

I was about to stop until friggin TC started tossing poems out there.

Hey...I see new prompts have gone up....I thought it was closing on Friday....this is FRIDAY haha!!

I'm assuming that the contest will end at the end of the day ... damn that's gonna be nasty with work lol

I'm wondering if the Independents could be cut some slack here??? Obviously, as Darren has pointed out, we do not have a club to confer in..I have been trying to encourage members who are either not in clubs or...are in clubs not participating and a few of them have actually taken time to write poems only to find the prompts have changed...is there anyway these poems can be considered???

Sorry everyone - I should have checked this thread before now!

I stated at the beginning, that the contest will close 9pm UK time, however, I cannot guarantee to be home at that time to close it, and so I am extending it by 2 hours, 11pm!!!

At time of posting this, it is 5.30pm, which gives you 5 and a half hours left.

I will post STOP on each thread when the time comes, and any poems after this will not be counted.

I have to say - although there are a lot of ridiculous poems that probably should not be counted, there are also some really great ones that I feel were very well written, so well done for those!

This was just a fun challenge, more about activity and team work, instead of quality. However, if I get a few volunteers to help me, I will run a harder challenge next time with stricter rules, and judging, so it will be based on quality.

Hellon, the independent team done so much more than what I expected it to do! So hats off! This side will always have the disadvantage of not having a club to post in... but we can have suggestions about this for next time. Last time, these members all had to join another club, but again, they were not able to take part in club discussions. And also, that made the teams really uneven, and somewhat unfair if an independent member joined an already very busy club. I am not exactly sure what would work in order to keep this fair on everyone??

I really enjoyed hosting this, and it has been very amusing watching you all battle!! :')

I always struggle with funny poems, and find that not many others attempt this category often, however, there have been some poems throughout this contest which have made me laugh!

Thanks for the contest hun but it would've made it nice to put a limit per day it would've kept me sane as we speak I can barely remember my name!
