Poem challenge for love and fun

    Hi all ????

I thought it is that time again for a little competition, with a difference. Okay so, below I have written a poem, which consists of four stanzas, with each line having eight syllables. The rhyme scheme in each stanza are couplets. So the challenge is to put whatever words you want, where the missing asterisks are. So you will have to find four syllables in each line to make up eight with the words I have already given.

I don’t know where this came from, or whether it will work. However hope some of you give it a whirl. Its not really a competition as such, but please PM your poems, so I can post them in one go, for all to see. More interesting and intriguing I would say ????. Any questions post here and lets see what happens

So I will say two weeks today for all poems to be posted by PM to me. I will keep you all updated.

I will then post the original I have written, just to see how close you get to mine.

    Much love M ????x

This looks like a really tricky puzzle. I'll give it a go.

This IS like a puzzle! I keep staring at it hoping for words to appear... I need to get my imagination or just my brain in general working haha.

    Hi all,

Just the two of you entered into this poetry challenge. I would just like to thank you both (Miss Milly and S.T.A.R.). I hope you enjoyed it.
Anyway two lovely poems, which now you can compare and also to the original I have written. Not an easy task for sure, but you both did it really well. So congratulations to you both.

Milly - have you a title? I may have missed it

    Milly's poem.

    Upon walking one magic night
I saw a fairy man all bright
I scrunched behind an old oak tree
with hope he had not spotted me

No noises made, no curses said
him so leggy and hair so red
Quietly he danced upon a knoll
And shaped a dress made of a scroll

I raised my head and there was he
to where now did I try and flee
I stood and tried to walk away
without love’s hope I could not stay

Was he my love, my heart, the moon?
I'd hoped again I'd see his plume
I looked into the man’s dark eyes
And there the light did shine out lies!

    Once Upon a Whimsical Night
    By S.T.A.R.

Upon a wish, in one bright night,
I saw a fish, halting all flight.
I danced behind an idle bee
for hope this time, had not fooled me.

No cunning fox made no lies said,
just one so small and hair so red.
He also danced upon a night dream,
wearing a dress made of a scheme.

I took my key and I was free.
To where? I asked, did my friends flee?
    Jay stood and yelled to walk away;
without them all, I could not stay.

Was he, my firefly mate, the moon?
I hoped again, I’d meet him soon!
    I looked to the left, to the right;
“Hey there the moon did come out bright”.

    Lady of the moon.
    By Michael.

Upon a walk one moonlit night,
I saw a lady all draped in white.
I hid behind an old oak tree
and hope she had not noticed me.

No sound she made no word she said,
Her eyes so blue and hair so red.
She danced upon a shimmered eve
her dress made of a silken weave.

I blinked my eyes and gone was she,
to where I wondered did she flee.
I stood and turned to walk away
without her here I could not stay

Was she my lady of the moon-
I hoped again i’d she her soon,
Ilooked up to the sky above
and there the stars did spell out love.

It really was a very challenging challenge but really got the brain workimg... a pleasure to attempt and very interesting to see how different the three poems were. Thankyou Michael for organising it. Much love Milly x
