Weekly Contest Results, 28 December 2020

The final contest of 2020. It’s not so much nostalgia as respite from a long year of strife, both civil and physical. I usually look for a common thread that the judges found in the nominated poems. With one judge that seems to turn more into a psychoanalysis of the judge’s selection process. In this week’s selection the judge spells it out for us: it’s all about the beat, ba-bop, ba-bop. Ben’s auld lang syne, Walter’s spoof of spark-crossed love and Dark Lord’s ditty to the night all are touted for their rhythm and flow, which proves that even a Sith Lord can dance. Congrats to the winners, no sin in that, although it is a sin not to have honorably mentioned poets to celebrate!

Nature poem of pure elegance. Exceptional Rhyme poem
with dazzling word usage and flow, from start to finish.

The nature tones are really pretty and it added a euphoric
visual display through out I cant express enough about how
I love this poem. Well done!!

Eternal Flame by Walter ( 7 points )
This Rhyme poem by Walter is dazzling.
Its very difficult to tell a story in poetry form
and then at the rhyme pattern within, Walter did
a beautiful job with this, only a few times the flow
was a tiny bit off but I had to highlight this piece
for its wonderful message and the creative elegance.
Powerful Rhyme poem!!

Pure beauty within this poem, filled with a lovely beat and flow.
I adore rhyme patterns and the couplets are even, the beat is spot on
and its clearly a fantastic poem. Well done!
